Stay Safe. Stay Home. Vote by Mail.

Staying home or avoiding your polling location as a precautionary measure to protect against the spread of COVID-19 is a valid use of mail-in/absentee voting. Follow these steps to obtain your ballot and vote in your upcoming election:

Step 1

Print a copy of the 2020 Municipal Election Early Ballot Application hereIf you do not have a printer, you may request an absentee ballot by writing a letter and mailing it to your clerk’s office (addresses below). Be sure to include your name and mailing address, the election(s) for which you are requesting a ballot, and your signature. You can also take a picture of the letter and email it to your town clerk (emails below).

Step 2

Fill out and sign the application. Use a dark blue or black pen if you have one. The Secretary of State’s office requires the application to be printed and signed in ink.

Step 3

Take a picture of your application with your phone. Make sure your hand-written signature is visible and the form is legible. You can also scan the completed application with your printer if that is easier.

Step 4

Email the picture or scan of the application to your town clerk (emails listed below). You must send the application as an attachment. You can also mail or hand-deliver the application to your town hall or fax the application to your town clerk (addresses and fax numbers below).

Step 5

Once you receive your official ballot, fill it out and vote!

Step 6

Mail your ballot by noon at least three days before the election to ensure your ballot is received on or before election day (addresses below). All mail-in ballots must be back at your city or town hall by the close of polls on the day of the election – a postmark is not sufficient. Absentee ballots may be mailed or hand-delivered by a family member. Please be sure to allow enough time for the mailing of your application and your ballot.
