For the 2021-2022 legislative session, ELM has strategically selected a set of priorities that will build on the framework established by the Next Generation Roadmap bill and help Massachusetts achieve our carbon neutrality goals, grow our clean energy economy, and empower historically overburdened and underserved communities.

OUR POLICY PRIORITIES FOR THE 2021-2022 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
To work toward our long-term goals, this session we will advocate to:

Cement our state’s leadership as a hub for offshore wind and ensure that we shape an equitable and responsible industry

Decrease emissions from transportation by accelerating the transition to electric vehicles

Ensure new buildings are constructed to the highest standards and begin to address retrofitting existing buildings

Reduce unnecessary packaging, promoting effective recycling and helping municipalities avoid increasing waste disposal costs

Reform the Energy Facilities Siting Board (EFSB) to ensure environmental justice communities can meaningfully engage in the process

Resource our state environmental agencies so they can carry out their essential and broad responsibilities
