The Environmental League of Massachusetts Action Fund has endorsed Senator Paul Feeney of Foxboro in the election for the Bristol and Norfolk State Senate district, a credit to his commitment to the environment.
"With experience in the private sector as well as local and state government, Senator Feeney knows how to create jobs for the 21st century,” stated ELM Action Fund Executive Director Joe O’Brien. “He knows that in towns like Foxboro and across the state we need to build a clean energy economy that will power us into the future."
“During his first term at the State House, Senator Feeney made it clear he understands the importance of our state investing in clean energy, sustainable transportation, and parks to help address climate change, create jobs, and build healthier communities,” said ELM Action Fund President Elizabeth Henry. “We need strong leaders like Senator Feeney in the State House who understand that we can have both a strong economy and a healthy environment.”
Senator Feeney has supported legislation to move Massachusetts closer to 100% clean energy. He also worked hard to successfully pass measures in the Senate energy bill which would restrict the siting of gas compressor stations, and proposed an amendment to divest the Massachusetts' pension funds from thermal coal. Senator Feeney understands the importance of stronger environmental protection policies to promote the health and wellness of Massachusetts citizens and the state in which they live.
"I am proud and honored to have the endorsement of the Environmental League of Massachusetts Action Fund," said Feeney. "Through my time as a freshman State Senator, I have been dedicated to ensuring that Massachusetts is acting boldly and aggressively to change the way we generate and consume energy in our state while promoting a growing job-rich sector of our economy. ELM's endorsement of my re-election will allow me to continue to pursue green policies on behalf of the Bristol & Norfolk district, and I am grateful for their support."
Senator Feeney is the former chief of staff for his predecessor, Senator James Timilty. He served as a selectman in Foxboro for three years and is a former electrical worker for Verizon. To learn more about Senator Feeney, please visit his website at www.votefeeney.com.
