The Environmental League of Massachusetts Action Fund today endorsed Representative Paul A. Schmid of Westport for reelection in the 8th Bristol District, a credit to his work on behalf of the environment in the Legislature the last two years.
With critical issues of energy policy and environmental protection to be addressed in the next legislative session, the leadership of the ELM Action Fund believes it is important to return proven environmental champions like Representative Schmid to the House Chamber.
“As the House Chair of the Joint Committee on Environment, Natural Resources, and Agriculture, Representative Schmid listens to the concerns of the environmental advocacy community and is deeply committed to getting polices right. He has provided leadership on a wide range of issues including clean energy, open space preservation and water protection,"said ELM Action Fund Political Director, Joe O’Brien. “As a farmer and business owner, he also understands that a healthy environment and strong economy go hand in hand.”
First elected to the State House of Representatives in 2010, Schmid is up for reelection this year and is unopposed. For more information about hiscampaign, please visit his website at www.paulschmid4staterep.com

Last year the ELM Action Fund and the national League of Conservation Voters launched a new affiliation and an aggressive plan to flex the environmental community’s policy muscle in Massachusetts. This fall the ELM Action Fund has been working to educate and mobilize voters in key legislative races across the state.
