The Environmental League of Massachusetts Action Fund today endorsed Representative Christine Barber (D-Somerville) for reelection in the 34th Middlesex State House of Representatives district, a credit to her work on behalf of the environment in the Legislature the last two years.
With critical issues of energy policy and environmental protection currently being debated in the Legislature, the leadership of the ELM Action Fund believes it is important to return proven environmental champions like Representative Barber to the House Chamber.
“Representative Barber understands the importance of our state investing in clean energy, sustainable transportation, and parks to help address climate change, create jobs, and build healthier communities,” said ELM Action Fund Political Director Joe O’Brien. “Representative Barber has been an ally in efforts to increase renewable energy and prevent Massachusetts ratepayers from footing the bill for unneeded gas pipeline infrastructure.”
Commenting on the endorsement, Representative Barber said: "As a State Representative who has prioritized renewable energy and transportation investments to reduce greenhouse gases, I am honored to have been endorsed by the ELM Action Fund. I look forward to continuing to work together to protect our environment and ensure people in the Commonwealth have clean air and water."
First elected to the State House of Representatives in 2014, Barber is up for re-election this year and is running un-opposed. For more information about her campaign, please visit her web page at http://www.christinebarber.org/
The ELM Action Fund helps pass laws that protect our environmental legacy, holds our elected officials accountable and works to help build the political power of the environmental community. This fall the ELM Action Fund will be working to educate and mobilize voters in key legislative races across the state.
