Environmental League of Massachusetts Action Fund is proud to endorse State Representative Mike Brady (D-Brockton) in the Special State Senate Election for the Second Bristol and Plymouth seat, vacated after the passing of longtime State Senator Tom Kennedy. With critical issues on energy policy and environmental protection currently being debated in the Senate, we are committed to adding an environmental stalwart like Rep. Brady to the Senate chamber.
As a life-long resident of the State Senate District, Mike is known as a work horse, not a show horse. He has served as both a City Councilor and State Representative and has always been known for his hard work, dedication and service to our Community. Mike is also well known for working in a bi-partisan collaborative manner to get results. “Mike Brady Works” is a common theme amongst constituents, as well as colleagues.
Mike’s Record on the Environment
In his four terms as a State Representative, Mike has consistently made the right choice on environmental issues. He has opposed a new fossil fuel plant in Brockton, and supported adequate funding for state parks and for a 21st century transit system. In our latest legislative scorecard, ELM gave him a score of 95%, as compared to a 63% environmental rating for his opponent. During the 2013-14 legislative session, he voted in alignment with ELM priorities on key legislation like:
- An Act improving drinking water and wastewater infrastructure, which establishes a new Massachusetts Clean Water Trust and increases funding available for water infrastructure projects
- An Act relative to natural gas leaks, which establishes natural gas leak classification standards and requirements for repairs
- Two Environmental Bond Bills, which increase funding for projects related to land acquisition, water and air quality, state and urban parks, farm protection and viability, climate adaptation, and solid waste and recycling.
The ELM Action Fund is non-partisan and our endorsements are made based on the legislative records of the candidates. We have no doubt that Rep. Brady will continue his environmental leadership as a State Senator.
